The Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, established in 1996,
received approval of the medical council of India (MCI), for the award of MBBS
degree for its very first batch. The college has been accorded the status of
Deemed-to-be-University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government
of India on recommendation of the University Grants Commission (UGC) within a
period of just six and a half years of establishment, perhaps the shortest
period of such recognition. This is the first private college in the State of
Maharashtra to receive MCI approval to increase in the intake from 100 to 150
students in 2003 and from 150 to 250, within the shortest span of time. The
college building is a masterpiece of architecture and has all state-of-the-art
facilities that are in tune with the best in the world. The college building
basks in fine aesthetics and is impressive. It has a mural of Lord Dhanvantari
on its facade and the magnificent fibre glass dome can be seen from miles
around.

Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College Founded in 1989, the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College was originally affiliated to the University of Mumbai and the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik (MUHS), but now is a part of the University.
It was recently awarded an ISO 9001:2000 certification from the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).
Currently, the college provides facilities for M.B.B.S. and Post-Graduate studies. The extreme shortage of medical facilities promoted Padmashri Dr.
Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation to establish Medical College at Vilad Ghat,
Ahmednagar in 2004. Under the able guidance and mature insight of the founder
Padmabhushan Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, the institute has acquired remarkable
achievements both in terms of academic & health services at the grass root
level.
The College offers undergraduate course in Medicine ( MBBS ) with
an intake of 150 students per year and Postgraduate Courses in 15 Disciplines.
The institute is recognized by Medical Council of India, New Delhi in 2009 and
is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The Medical
complex is situated in an area of 33 acres in the beautiful scenario of Vilad
Ghat, Ahmednagar. Added to this, over 700 bedded Dr. Vikhe Patil Memorial
Hospital with state of the art labs, equipments as well as other facilities and
four primary Health centers namely Dehare, Jeur, Walki and Mehekari, One Urban
Health Center at Burudgaon and one Rural Health Training Center at Bhalawani
for undergraduate training, where the patients are treated at subsidised rates.
